This is what we will try to clarify here.<br><br>Physiotherapy<br><br>In rehabilitation, physiotherapy is often the first step. After an incident or an injury, it is the professional that we consult to be able to return to our usual lifestyles. After the clinical evaluation, its objective is to restore physical health and mobility through goal-specific exercises or mobilizations.<br><br>In neurology, the physiotherapist will identify functional goals such as walking, balance work, improving autonomy on transfers, and others. The goal of occupational therapy is to support the person in the practice of daily activities, such as dressing, showering, eating, and others.<br><br>To do this, the occupational therapist will assess the way you perform your activities. He will then suggest exercises and adaptations to make it easier while giving you advice on effective methods. In particular, it is the occupational therapists who assess your home and its adaptation. They can also provide you with suitable utensils or clothing, or give you tools according to your needs.<br><br>In occupational therapy, the main goal is to help you be functional in your daily activities through education and adaptation to your environment.<br><br>Occupational therapy is practiced by occupational therapists who are members of the OEQ).<br><br>Kinesiology<br><br>Kinesiology, for its part, is found more in prevention, improvement of sports performance or recovery. It is the health professional specializing in physical activity. Once again very complementary to the other two approaches, its objective is more in the area of physical conditioning and healthy lifestyle habits. In particular, it targets the muscular system, the cardio-respiratory or cardiovascular system in order to improve endurance, muscular strengthening and flexibility work.<br><br>The kinesiologist will evaluate your physical condition and set up a conditioning program adapted to your needs. You can then do this program on your own or decide to take sessions with your kinesiologist so that he or she can supervise you. In neurology, the kinesiologist will adapt the exercises according to your abilities and may target elements that are specific to your condition.
